I have a 1997 Olds Custlass Supreme SL with the 3.1L V-6. I was trying to do a tune up today and first off, does anybody have a good technique for removing the spark plugs a plug wires from the Firewall side of the motor?

Also, I purchased Bosch Platinum Plugs for this car. After putting them in, the car is skipping (was not skipping before). I cannot determine if it is skipping because it does not like the Bosch plugs, or if the plugs wires are not on in the correct order.

Does anyone have any experience with this car (or atleast close year model of this engine) that can shed some light on my problem.

Thanks a bunch. Put the car on ramps and do the plugs from underneath on the bacside. We would have to do this on GM's with the 2.8, 3.1, 3.4, and the caddies with the 4.9.

If you used the old plug wires some of them may have been damaged when you removed them. This can cause a skip.

Dumb question...did you gap them  ? they make an engine rocker that you take the top dog bone off and pull the motor forward. as for the skip you could have cracked a plug putting them in I hate BOSCH plugs allthough they have been job security for me for a long time, from DIYER'S using them. you should put back in the plug the manufacturer of the car uses, GM-AC delco, ford-motorcraft, chrysler- champion. Boschs work great in VW or porsche.
