well I just paid the mechanic to rebuild my jet pump. We put it in the water and found out the back cylinder was leaking. prior to this we ran it and it was fine but not in the water. Compression was good and even in both cylinders.Any idea if this could be a head gasket?Would I still have good compression with a bad gasket?

Also a second question. I have a 640 engine from a 93 tigershark. Is it compatible ? Would it be an easy swap? Are the Electronics the same?

Compression has more to do with good or bad (worn) piston rings. The head gasket can be tore or damaged and allow water into the cyclinder. You could also have a cyclinder base gasket go bad and allow water into the bottom end also.
