98 115 intruder with ois missis or skips

Hello all, well i have been having this issue with my 98 115 intruder with ois ignition for at least a year now, thought i had it solved where i had a ignition coil that when warm was acting not normal the ohm meter would jump all over when you tapped the coil so i replaced it went out to see how it ran last year in oct it was a very cool day low 40s to 50s . Now over the winter i rebuilt all 4 carbs just due to i had not even touched them since i bought the outboard and i thougt it was time to go threw them, this year i took the boat out for the first time anouther cool day all was well starts up easey smooth idle and part throttle 6000rpm wide open was happy , well my first tornament starts up easey smooth idle and part throttle 6000 rpms wide open, fished at one spot 1 hour go to next 30min goto the next 40min no problem noe the day was cool over cast windy well went to my last spot for 1 hour then decided to go to anouther spot well motor started then quit next time it backed fired than next time it started but was missing or skipp iing i proceded slow speed and heard the motor like it was spark knocking i proceded to go back to the dock than all of a sudden it started to run ok no problems its like somthing had to cool off before it will run good again o ta i also changed out the impeller the temperture went up in the 70s when this happened could it be the stater optical sensor or the rectifier regulater it has been doing this since last year cant figure it out maybe some of you techs might shed some light on this issue.

You'll have to troubleshoot this one when it is acting up. But it could be the power pack or the osi sensor.

Oops i forget to mention that i already changed out the power pak last year , but that did not resolve the problem.

I think I would start looking at the OSI sensor or maybe a bad new pack.

I recommend CDI parts, I would put a new CDI optical sensor on it, if that does not fix it I would get a new CDI power pack. also you should DVA test all your electronics, links in my sig below. could be a weak coil, a spark gap tester will help find that. make sure you have the gray plug wires and champion QL78YC plugs at 030 gap.

I have the grey wires on it and ql78yc plugs gaped at 30 thou, i have a new power pak and a optical sensor from cdi aready orderd , i will do a dva output test in the next couple of days thank you all for the input.

you really want to do the DVA test as a bad regulator or stator could damage your new parts.

Replace one new part at a time to see what cures it.
