Alright this is where it starts, left engine cover off and rained in engine bay, no harm done i thought... well coil went bad had power on both sides so got a coil installed and it turned over and fired once backfiring, then i lost power to the positive side of the coil. and i'm honestly lost and fed up. anybody got a source for a 98 4.3 L mercruiser that could help i'm debating on buying a new wiring harness and going from there. thanks ahead of time

Ayuh,.... That seems abit Radical, compared to diagnosing the problem, 'n fixin' it...

Do ya have a Testlight,..?? a Multimeter,..?? a Manual,..??

Re: 98 4.3 mercruiser HELP, no power at coil

well the boat sat from the previous owner for nearly 7 years and was never used, it was stored inside but was closed up and moisture attacked, had to fix several connections that were just falling apart already. no manual yet got to pick one up, i have a test light and multi meter. been checking stuff and discovered the bad coil, getting 11.65 volts in and out of the coil w/ the key on. I checked the fuse block on the starter which supplies power through out the engine and it was intact but removing it broke the stud off so that now needs to be replaced. this thing all really got started w/ replacing my bellows on the outdrive, which is when the engine got rained on. my next step is to start tracing wires further i guess...
