New to me last fall 98 Bayliner with the 3.0 merc. Not much info on the maintenance from previous owner(s) so going through the punch list.
Have a small amount of green drive fluid coming from port intake holes so I pulled it apart to check the seals and replace the water pump:
observations : a) NO FACE SEAL PRESENT (see pic 1)
b) Impeller housing super clean and impeller seems new (?) ( see pic 2)
c) gear oil Inlet tube was connected via a lock tab onto the white retainer. I did not see
any reference to that in the video's posted here or the OEM service manual #14 .
Good thing I had help as the whole unit was hung for a
moment by the vent tube until my helper disconnected it. ( sucks but it did get
stretched out a bit from the weight) see pic 3
****also NO water in drive fluid, completely green and of the right consistency
Coupler O rings and Quad ring present but seem slightly worn
Gaskets pretty much worn to crap
Aluminum Dam already replaced with Rubber

Are there any other seals involved that would allow drive fluid to come out the intake holes? we are talking minimal amounts.
**also note drive fluid on the top of the impeller housing on pic 1 .
Any input, thoughts or comments would be appreciated!
