did some searching on this and there were a lot of different answers.

when i winterized this year, i changes the gear oil out. it wasnt real runny, but quilte thick and yellowish looking. i couldnt tell if it was water or nut. i had the powerhead rebuilt last year and supposively he changed the gear oil for me.

do i have to re seal the lower unit? if i do i would rather just get ever gasket there is for the lower unit.

if not, was the wrong oil used? i use quicksilver always.

im going to change it again before i put her in this year.

Could just be that the gaskets on the fill and vent screws are leaking and letting water in. Put new gaskets on the screws when you change the lube, then run it in the lake a few times and check for water.

If you are still getting water in there, then it is time for a seal kit.

Sounds like water is getting into your lower unit either threw the fill/vent screws or the seal on the prop shaft--- The new fishing lins caught in your prop will cut the seal in a few seconds ant let water in.
