Hey guys, many thanks to those who helped with my last problem!
Now she is running I have the next problem.

When I bought the boat the hydraulics did not have enough power to lift the engine on their own. When I got home I tried the hrdraulics and it blew the entire hydraulic oil everywhere!

After sea trials today I have no idea where that fluid came out from!

Any clues where to start? Do I just take the whole system off and systematically service it part by part? or should I refill the system and source the leak first?

What is the likely cost of all this? I have another engine I could buy if this rebuild is going to be expensive! Is it just a case of buying a load of seals and servicing some pistons?

What fluid do I use for the re-filling it?

Many thanks in advance. All information is very much appreciated!

I wish you luck finding the part(s) you need. Those units were used for alotta years on alotta Chryslers and Forces. Automatic Transmission Fluid seems to be a popular fluid. Hydraulic jack oil works. Most any thin oil works. They're not terribly fussy. You may have to take steps to get any water out of the system. If there isn't much, changing the fluid a few times after working the system usually works. But dang it's messy!

Right...turned out to be the trim cylinder seal was well shot! Very pleased with our work there!

The previous owner had a rather fancy stainless bracket made to hold the engine up rather than fix the problem!
