98 Johnson 50hp no tell tale at idle

We recently bought a new to us boat, '98 AquaSport 165 CC with a 98 Johnson 50hp SPL on it. Boat had not been used for a year so we flushed the fuel system, put kits in the carbs, changed the oil in the gearcase, lubed all the cables and replaced the impeller. Boat runs fine BUT, after a 2hr shake down cruise last weekend,started her up on muffs and now it isn't peeing at all and in the tank, no water at idle, but does pee when given throttle. No blockages, t-stat is removed and a restrictor disc is in it's place. Do I need a complete pump kit? Any help is appreciated.

What does this restrictor disc look like ?? Got a pic ?? Still sounds like something in the pee tube or the block has some blockage. If you run that mtr without a thermo and the idle temp doesn't come up to specs the longer you run it at idle the worse it will run. If you didn't put a new water pump kit in correctly and just the impeller, that could also be your prob.

Thanks for your response. I cut the probe out of the t-stat for diagnostic purposes to take the t-stat out of the equation to find flow problem. The pump is installed correctly, it worked fine for the last outing. I did just replace the impeller. That's my question, since every other component in the system checks out and there are no blockages, do I need to replace the entire pump assembly to get proper pressure/flow?
