approx 500 hours, compression was average 113 on all 6. Was running solid but poor fuel consumption for over 50 hours of use since I bought it a year ago. so I decided to get the injectors professionally done And purchased new Reeds and Blocks from Chris. Injectors came back with a report card and 1 was poor 251cc per min. 3 were dripping between 365-430 and 2 were fair at 407 and 477 cc/min. Now they are all 489/491 cc/min.
Pulled the OEM reeds and inspected and most had visible opening when held to light. Replaced with Chris Carsons reed and block and no more openings. (Chris is a pleasure to deal with FYI) Put everything back together took a while to fire up but it did and ran for a good minute on hose, then died. I figured bad gas since I left the VST lines open for 2 weeks while waiting for parts but I pumped out 1 gallon through the lines. Still cant fire up after trying for a while. I pulled the VST and low pressure fuel pump and cleaned out then put back and still nothing. I was able to get if fired with drive in neutral and some throttle but it ran like **** when it did fire up. Stumbling real bad and more smoke then normal. Shut off and tried to fire up normally and it would start for a few seconds at times with smoke and die.
What in the world happened? Chris said reeds and blocks wont cause that problem. The motor was running great before injector service with bad injectors fired right up always so this is really frustrating. I would appreciate any suggestions why it wont start and runs like crap after service. Is there a computer reset or something? Motor does not like the new fuel flow? Im not a boat mechanic but very handy around motors. It is boating/fishing season here in California so boat shops are slammed and I have a call to a Mercury service center but that is 3-4 weeks out just to take the boat in. Im thinking of pulling the reeds and blocks off just to try it as I am desperate. Even looking at buying a motor that is not as old, but dont have a huge budget.
Thanks for your time as I tried to be as thorough as possible and appreciate any help.
