noise started out a light knocking, cahtter noise at top of outdrive, mechanic said to change the prop, didn't help, noise got louder, took it back to him, he found a ujoint seal bad and gear oil in the bellow's, the ujoints were dry, so he put fittings in them and greased it and said they were good, he replaced the seal and bellows with new one's, did a test run at the lake, same chatter noise, now there is also a high pitch squile coming from the outdrive when you put it in gear, shift back to neutrel and the noise goes away, put it back in gear and it start's, had the mechanic come to the lake for a test ride, he said that he couldn't hear anything, so i told to put me in a new u joint assembly, hoping to stop the chatter, knocking noise, he put a new u joint assembly in from volvo penta, test drive, now the origanal noise is still there, high pitch squill still there, now a new knocking noise in the upper drive, that is very loud , i can hear it with the boat on the trailer running it in my yard, i can't figure out the , the new knocking was not there with the old u joint's, here's the best part 3,000 dollar's and 4 month's later and the outdrive off 2 time's the gimbal bearing was never changed, it's 15 year's old , but the mechanic said it was good
