What's the deal with this. I'm unable to separate and remove.
4 lower bolts and bolt behind trim tab.
Is there one I'm missing somewhere because it just won't drop.
Thanks

You have to unhook the shift linkage under the bottom carb. Also I believe there's two bolts under the trim tab.

Thanks for that jtexas.
Hey can you tell what could impeed waterflow to the head for cooling. Other than the impeller or maybe the
thermostats.
I just had my exhaust area gaskets replaced due to water getting into no#2 cyl. Now water out the peehole is weak at idle and nonexistent after 45 sec at WOT.
Slow to 1/4 throttle or idle water streams again and is very hot but still weak. Any ideas. Could changing gaskets in this area cause these types of problems if done incorrectly? Or should I focus on the impeller?

Thanks again

Sounds like you need to change the impeller. When you have the lower unit off take the thermostat cover off the engine and remove your tstat. Hook a hose to your water tube on your lower unit and flush it well. Might have some crud in there. Seems to always lodge behind the tstat. If you do not have a tstat in there make sure you replace it otherwise your peehole flow will be reduced and you run the risk of your cooling system not being filled properly.

could have got some gasket material or something in there...good advice from fireman...impeller change while you're in there.

the shift rod is pinned to the shift lever with a single bolt on the port side under the bottom carb

I checked the impeller it looks great. Fins are all good
This peehole issue started since the gasket install.
My water was pumping strong prior. My engine ran at perfect temp.
I took it back to the mechanic.
I just hope he is honest about this and accepts resonsibilty. I spoke with 2 30 yr guys
They both seem to think either silicone or gasket material is blocking passageways.
I replaced the thermostat with new.
Thanks for the info about the linkage.

Later guys!

Yea, the peehole could be clogged like mine was with sealer. Kind of a pain to take the exhast housing off but not bad.

Hey thanks fireman.
So you had the same problem.
It was just too coincidental that it was anything other than blockage. My pump worked perfect prior to this gasket change.
Anyway the guy has it back so hopfully he fixes it.

Later!
