99 Force 40 HP........ RPM Question

I noticed that my motor is rated at 5250 rpms. However, when I am out running, the rpms on my tach will max out at ~5600 rpm at WOT. Is this a problem? I would hate to have to get a new prop, I currently have a stainless Ballistic prop that is in top notch shape.

Thanks.....

Not a BIG problem, but you are over revving.

Foe what its worth, I run my 70 hp a few hundred over, 5400 max.

You run the risk of ruining any motor, every time you start it.

It is a bit higher than I would feel comfortable with, but not by much.

A couple model years earlier, they had a recommended range of 5000-5500.

Personally, I would run it as is.

Or, increase the load in the boat by 224 pounds, that should drop the rpm's a little.
Let's see, that would be 2, 112 pound bikini clad young ladies. :D
