I have a 99 Force Outboard 120, carburated...fully charged battery only lasts about 2 trips on the water. Have a CD player but dont play it hardly enough to kill the battery that fast. I use a "Optima" Red Top gell cell. Is the problem my stator?? If so how do i test to make sure? If not what could it be???

Get a volt meter and put it on the battery. You should get 13 volts @2000 rpm and 14.5-15 @ 3000 rpm. If you are not getting this, then your battery is not charging. Check and clean all of your connections at the rectifier and the battery. Clean the battery terminals and wire terminals with a little steel wool. DO NOT allow the steel wool to short across the battery terminals as it will ignite.

Try the voltage test again. If it still doesn't charge, you need to check your stator output and rectifier. This information is in the Clymer Force Outboard Shop Manual.
