I have a 25 Honda Outboard on a 14 foot Princecraft fishing boat. It's takes a long time for it to plane out as well it's very slow. Any suggestions?

Proping comes immediatly to mind. You will need to determine if you are getting the required rpm's at wide open throttle. It is also concievable that you are simply underpowered for this unit depending on cargo.

Re: 99 Honda Outboard 25 mhp- Slow

Hi,

We are pushing a 500 lbs - 14 feet Princecraft that came with a 25 foot Johnson motor that was sufficient power for the boat. The Johnson made the boat dance and the Honda just barely pushes it out of the water. The Honda is providing about 1/2 of the power of the Johnson.

The prop on the motor is the one they put on in the factory...any suggestions?

Thanks,

Just because that is the factory prop does'nt mean it is right for your application.I would hope that dealer copensated for the added weight and propped you as such but that can be a balancing act.It might be usefull to also see if you are also actually, mechanically, achieveing wide open throttle. With the remote or twist grip at wide open ,all carbs should be at the stop if rigged properly.
