99 johnson 50 power trim question is a part missing in this picture?PLEASE HELP

I bought a boat and im replacing the power trim motor, I got the old motor off and was going to install new motor,but shouldnt the motor hook to some sort of drive saft or somthing in the housing? I feel like im missing a part,and want to verify that im not before I put it all back together.I dont see how the motor would do anything if it doesnt have a drive saft or somthing it hooks to, but hopefully im wrong.please help also what fluid do I need to use to refill it?

Seems to me that the drive coupling is missing...check # 18 in this:

I agree, it looks like the drive coupling is missing but the question is, where did it go??

Its laying in the housing with the hyd pump, stuck in the shaft of old motor, or in the rocks below the engine.
