Is the primer bulb the only check valve in the fuel line for my 99 mercury 2 stroke outboard. If the bulb check valve is iffy, could the engine faulter at WOT? Thanks, Cliff

The bulb one-way check valve only blocks fuel so the bulb will pump fuel. There are two more in the fuel pump, again so the fuel pumps.

As to your question - doubtful.

What do you mean by 'faulter'?

Missing, cutting out, could be an ignition problem, check with an inductive timing light to see if it looses flash.

Re: 99 Merc. 2 stroke fuel line check valve

Thanks for the feed back. I may have found the faulter/stumble issue. My line and bulb are only 2-3 years old, but the bulb is acting like the check valves in it are giving up. I was still using the OMC quick connect from my previous outboard at the tank. I think the seal in it was letting air into the fuel line along with the cheap pinch clamps on the bulb. This may have been letting the engine run out of gas at WOT. I replaced the disconnect with a hose barb and the pinch clamps with hose clamps. I also replaced the square o-ring on the filter/ screen cup that may have been leaking also. I will have to run it on the lake to know as it only shows up after a minute or so wide open. I'll let you know.

Good deductions and inspection, you probably nailed it.
