I’m installing a 99 Mercury 225 EFI on my boat. Never has a fuel injected outboard before. Obviously it is oil injected also. So my question is would there be any benefit or harm from running a small amount of oil in the fuel? On all my other outboards which were all carbureted, I mixed the oil a little heavy. My thought was a little extra lube never hurt. But with EFI not sure if this is bad for the injectors etc?

Mixing oil in the fuel is counterproductive, In an injected Merc, yes there is such a thing, oil is injected into the crankcase for lubrication and raw fuel is injected into the cylinder for combustion.

GA boater thank you! As you can tell I don’t know much about the workings of these fuel injected motors. I did not realize that oil was injected into the crankcase. Now that makes perfect sense. So adding oil in the fuel will do nothing. Thanks again!
