1999 Sea Ray 180BR w/3.0, Alpha 1 MCM,

I just saw this boat in S. Florida at a dealer. They had taken it in on trade, but have yet to clean it up or check it out.

I'll have my own mechanic do his ritual to it before I buy, but I had 2 concerns;

There are no covers, though the snaps are in place.
Is it better to have the covers custom made?? For a better fit?? Or to buy them on-line from who? For a better price?
It's going to be outside, on a lift - with no roof ~

Also, there is a little debris on the floor, so it must of been tarped - but I was worried if there was standing water, IS THE FLOOR WOOD or fiberglass?
Looking at an old brochure, it says this:
Fiberglass Motorbox
Insulated Engine Compartment
Integral Fiberglass Floor System
Marine-Grade Carpet (Red, Blue, Green)
Marine-Grade Vinyl (Sand w/Accent Welt)

So ~ There are my questions: Best cover solution and first hand knowledge of wood or not in the floor?

THANKS ~

Go to the SEARAY web site and submit your ? because I believe they have them made to fit each boat. Post back I have the same issue w/ my 175 5 series the tarp is shot and would like a price for the 2 piece rteplacement.

You will find the cover it at this site: GLBT make the covers for Sea Ray

http://www.greatlakesboattop.com/

BUT, be very careful what you order because, even though they guarantee satisfaction, they will not honor it. It will come with the snaps unattached, so you can match them up yourself. You'll need to get a snap plier to squish the snaps on.

Assuming they are still in business. I had a very bad experience with them, but ended up winning after a lot of administrative jumbo and a credit card dispute.

Deck is plywood. Stringers too.

If not under roof, I would want a good fitting full cover. To me that would mean factory, custom, or semi custom. factory would be basically a custom cover from sea ray and may fit the snaps already in place if th snaps were for a factory cover. Custom would be just that, a cover made for the boat by a canvas shop and snaps placed for the existing snaps. Semi-custom would be a fitted cover, but with a elastic or drawstring bottom. Semi-custom would be my last choice for going on a lift without a roof.

My 2 cents
