Re: !996 35 Triple Evinrude
I have the service manual and did the recommended tests to determine if it is faulty or not. It failed the test so I know it is bad.
I have been toying with the idea of removing the VRO system and just premixing I haven't decided which way I want to go yet.
As far I can tell the low oil sender is a nice to have feature but not absolutely required. The outboard has the OMC system check which has idiot lights for no oil, water temp, check engine and low oil plus it has the warning horn. The no oil light is for monitoring the presence oil in the oil mixing unit and that is working correctly. I have disconnected the oil sender which clears the low oil in the tank alarm. I figure if I top up the oil tank every time I fill the fuel tank I wont have an issue considering the tank holds at lease 32 ounces of oil.
