Anyone have a clue on the UV wavelength for most common automotive A/C R134a leak detector dyes?? Would it be closer to 350 or 420nm , or is it formulated with a broadband range??

You can see it with a blacklight...

A typical blacklight is all I use. I also have one of the ultra violet ones also which is basically a black light. Clip Lite makes a product for sealing up small leaks in A/C units. I've used it quiet a few times with great success. I have to admit that I haven't used it on a car system, but other techs that I know have. They said it works for them to. The main thing with this stuff is that you must pull a very good vacuum on it and get any moisture out of the system.

Thanks for the info....I want to put together a 2 foot tube with 3 UV LED's at the end to get into tight places looking for dye traces. I guess the dye will fluores under most UVA (longer wavelengths of UV).
