A Christmas Book
hello
I found my copy of a book that I would reccomend to all the DIY'Rs,amuatur, backyard and even some of the experienced techs I know. I have had this book and refered to it so many times its not funny. the book does not contain many specs or actual procedures and is "oh horrors" automotive based. but its 800 pages of theory on how and why almost everything works. from cranks and reciprocating parts to the a/c and controls and dash gauges to the exhaust gasses. its a must have and must read for any starter mechanic and will benifit all. my copy is the 7th edition printed in the early 70's sometime. my mom gave it to me for my 15th birthday and its been a constant companion and reference tool since
.I even used to read it at breakfast
.
it describes the theory of the wankel and the turbine engines briefly. it has some good sections on heads and valvetrains and how it all has to work. it has good references to fuels and octane ratings, good theory on EFI even though some of it is dated the theory is still the same. its written in an easy to understand( i mean I was 15) style and is a must have on your tech manual shelf. the name of the book is,
motors
Auto engines and electrical systems
it was published by MOTOR
790 broadway New York NY 10019
the library of congress number is 77-88821
ISBN-0-910992-73-8
if you can get a copy you will find it will help with almost all your mechanical skills
good luck and keep posting
