Shell mound is some very good flats fishing on the gulf coast that is near cedar key Fl. I took my craig cat out at high tide and had a great time fishing around some of the small islands for reds and trout.

A large Center console kept fallowing me around and crowding me everytime i found a good spot, there where 5 people in the boat and it got crowded trying to throw you line out.

I asked them why they kept following me and running me out of my fishing holes and just got some rude answer and decided to go fish the shallows closer inshore.

So i crank up and head out back to the shallows following the markers running about 30 mph. it takes about 10 min for me to make it to the flats i fish and not more than 8 min or so i look back and see that boat following me and gaining ground, so i open her up and pass over the sand bar into the flats.

I look back in time to see the boat slam into the sandbar and get very very stuck as the water over that bar was 4 in at the most. so i slow and turn around and can only come about 75 feet to them before it's to shallow for me to go over inless i am on plane.

Ask if there ok and if the need me to contact the coas guard for them as even in high tide that bar only has 9 in of water
. there ok except bumps and bruises and after much cussing at me for letting them hit the sandbar i left them to finish my fishing trip.

When i came back by 4 hours later they where still sitting there with a local Fish and game warden in an airboat sitting there talking to them.

I waved and went on by, Felt pretty bad about that but i really did not think they would ignore the large floating markers and sign that warns of the sandbar.
