So folks, after an 8 year boating hiatus, my family bought another boat. Granted, it's used, but new to us. Anyways a few questions:

1. It's got a 50 HP Johnson outboard engine. If I just use my trolling motor for short durations, can I use the same battery a the engine is plugged into? I'd hate to take up space with a secondary marine battery for something I use so infrequently.

2. If I install a marine radio, do the connections just hook to the same batter as the engine? I'd hate to get out there and have a dead battery.

3. What's a good type of paint for painting a floor of a boat? What's a good color? Boat color is red with white hull, fiberglass floor.

Re: A few questions: Trolling Motor, paint, stereo, and more...

1. IMO No...trolling motor needs its own battery. Trying to start a boat motor on 1/2 a charge is not fun.

2. Marine radio usually can run off of same battery as engine...the draw for the radio is normally low enough it can run 8 hours or so and not effect battery performance. However, if you are using a system with an amp and some wattage....same principle applies, you never want to draw down your starting battery.

3. Lots of opinions and on this....from my research and limited knowledge I would go with easypoxy and a texture additive.
