Hi , I have a 1989 spectrum 1700 with the original trailer. I got the boat 3 years ago with the trailer. The trailer has been ok so far. I all grease to the grease buddy every year before it goes into storage. My question is that since I am new to trailer stuff. How t I check and maintain a trailer? Do I need to change the bearing every numbers of years or fit it when it went? Thanks
Btw , it is a single axle with no brake.

Re: A few trailer questions

Bearings should last you many years. Everyone has their own system... but i suggest pulling hubs and inspecting the bearings as it's fairly new to you. You will need at a minimum a rear seal and tube of grease to do this. While you are there, you can have a look at the leaf spring shackles and bushings. You will have to pull the bolts that attach the springs to do this. Lights and wiring need to be in good working order. Winch and strap maybe add a fresh strap. Bowstop roller inspect, or change to a new poly style roller. Bunks, replace as required. Trailer tires. Well, it's a subject that gets beaten to death around here... as everyone has their own idea on what is best. I would change the tires before they are worn out. Trailer coupler should be inspected, replace any parts as required. Touch up any missing paint on the trailer. Shoud be good for many years...

Stingray is right and also very thorough. Once you have inspected the wheel bearings I would advise repacking them once a year. It's good maintainace and it gives you the opportunity to inspect them so you can replace them as they are going bad as opposed to waiting until they fail.
