For anyone with a 40 hp Force, 1999, do know there is a fuse in line with the starter selonoid wire that comes from the ignition switch. Testing the starter circuit led me to the fuse, but it look good. Checking with an ohm meter showed it open. Upon closer inspection, it had a hairline crack near one of the bayonet tabs. Confused initially...wellsc1:confused:

It's a good thing you had an ohm meter! You never know what you are going to face sometimes when trouble-shooting electrical problems.

For anyone without an ohm meter, use a 12-volt test light and put the fuse in series with one of the leads before connecting to a 12-volt battery.;)
