Hello all!

I'm an avid tinkerer and I enjoy working on, fixing and creating my own things, especially my boat! I've always wanted a good site to share my various projects with the world and encourage discussion and learning about do-it-yourself projects.

I was never really able to find one, so I created it. It's easy to use, free and has a section devoted to boating:

http://www.shareaproject.com

I hope people will try it out and find it useful!

The first project on the site is my replacement of the floor in my 1989 Citation Caprice Cuddy. I'm a very novice boater, but I'm doing the best I can! I would welcome any and all comments on the project!

http://www.shareaproject.com/projectThumbs.php?p=1

Got to admit, though - it's a great-looking embryo site. Not too strong on project choice right now, but that could change.

Be a shame to lose you davaugust - but don't start a rebellion!

This forum has taught me a lot - and when you are learning all the time as well as giving your bit, you develop a kind of loyalty.

Ciao

I agree, iboats is just about the best resource around, and I have used it extensively when I've worked on my boats in the past...It's just that I'm a very visual person, and it's always helpful for me to have pictures of every step. That's why I created shareaproject.com ...it encourages pictures to be included with every step along the way, and showcases projects from beginning to end, with all discussion limited to the projects at hand.

I certainly don't intent to stop using iboats...the members here are very knowledgeable, and the past posts have gotten me through some sticky situations. I was really trying to create something more complimentary, not competitive!

Dave...I like the site too (especially for pictures). iboats is great for what it is... a wealth of information. It won't be going away and is arguably the best resource for boating information worldwide. iboats is great!

I do have a couple of questions though Dave. Is there a way to contact you?

The quieter you stay, the more you learn.

Meaning ... you don't have to be a marathon poster to get a lot of know-how from this site.

Like most of us I guess, I've got knowledge on some aspects and huge gaps on others. On the bits I don't know, I keep quiet and learn.

Thanks iboats.

Ciao

Exactly. I think I use the forum exactly as it is intended...I search existing posts looking for answers, and only after doing so and not finding anything will I post. Fortunately, there is SO much information here, most of my questions get answered before reaching that point.

I don't do that often enough. It's easy to forget that all the good information here is the result of someone's continuing effort to help.
