I pulled the carbs off my 1987 Mercury 90 HP engine for cleaning and rebuild. When I was jostling the oil Reservoir around to get the air box plate in place the oil line from the reservoir to the oil pump and the vent line broke into several pieces. I was surprised how brittle the lines had gotten. Luckily I had already ordered new oil lines to replace the old ones as a matter of prevenative maintenance.
If someone out there has an older boat with advanced oil injection, they need to inspect their oil lines asap, it could save your engine. I hope this helps someone else.
