Hello,

I am not sure if I have this in the right thread or not. If not I am sure that it will get moved.

I am looking at buying a bigger boat. I would like to sell the one that I have now to allow me to afford a bigger boat. The only problem is I have no idea what mine is worth. I will be honest; I would not imagine that the boat would really be worth all that much. I would like to think that the motor would be worth a decent amount.

The boat is a 1984 Achilles 16? SIB with a 1998 Merc 40HP ss (15?) tiller. I don?t believe it to have any leaks of consequence. Let me explain. . I do have to put air in it before I take it out every few time, usually about once per month. When I say that I have to put air in it, the tubes are not soft, I just kind a top it off to account for the temp difference with the air and the water. The motor is mint. Extremely clean. It has been used for three seasons on a rescue boat for the APBA. I am one of the rescue divers on the team. We stopped using them when we picked up a sponsorship with Carolina Skiff. The motor sat in a garage for many years before I starting using it again two years ago. The motor starts first pull every time. One of the easiest starting motors that I have ever used.

I would imagine that the motor is pretty well pigeon holed to an inflatable. I can not think of too many applications for a 40HP SS tiller motor.

So here is the question?..

What the heck should I ask for the motor with or without the boat and trailer? I have no idea where to start. I am just looking for a fair market value of the whole works.

Thanks in advance for all your help

The trailer has been modified since the picture was taken. The boat now sits on a 6?X12? platform. Sorry no pic of the mod.

Looks like a nice little rig, probably really fun to rip around in with that 40hp. What kind of speeds do you get with that setup?

I'd say the range you could get is $1500-2000 but maybe more since you don't see many zodiacs for sale used.

Me plus one person on flat water I will get between 38-39MPH. Don't have a speedometer on board. I am getting that from a GPS. It is quite the nice little dive boat. It is a ton of fun but I am looking to get something with a little more room. I am trying to upgrade to a 24'-26' center console. Her goes.......
