Well, we?re 10 days in to the Maryland?s Trophy Striped Bass season and we?ve already lost 3 boats with 2 deaths, so far.....
The first boat to be lost was a pontoon boat that capsized off Bloody Point. Why three guys were out in the open waters of the Bay in 20-25kt winds with 4-5 foot seas on a pontoon boat is beyond me. Fortunate for them, help was close by and they were rescued w/o incidence.
The very same day, a 24? boat with 5 people onboard started taking on water and sinks off Thomas Point. A distress call was sent and they were picked up by a passing boat before the boat capsized. While on the way back to port, the rescue boat, now with 8 onboard, reportedly started taking on water but made it safely back to port.

Fast forward 3 days. Someone jumps off the Bay Bridge in the morning and around noon, a 28? boat with 4 onboard capsizes, killing 2 brothers and leaving one in critical and the other in fair condition.

It?s been a little ?Sporty? out there this Spring to say the least. A steady 3 ft. chop with a couple of 5-6 ft. thrown in from time to time to keep things interesting.
