a new acquisition

my newest find is an Elgin Outboard model number 571.58761 serial number 761 10974 or at least that is what the original owners manual says on the front in pencil. The motor is currently moving at 65 MPH thru Ws. in the back of my sister's van on it's way to me. What year was this one made and any other words of wisdom would be great. thanks. Jerome

Elgin 571.58761 is a 1953 7.5hp outboard made by West Bend, who were bought by Chrysler (Chrysler Marine), who sold it off to US Marine (Bayliner/Force) who eventually sold to Brunswick, who rolled their production into Mercury's.<br /><br />Fuelil mix is 16:1
