Those old Aristocraft boats were way ahead of their time, with that sleek ageless styling, & a hardtop! plus the fine dependable, powerful, Chevy stovebolt 6! go figure.

Ziggy,
Great Pics. I just posted in an earlier thread in this forum. I joined here last fall. Anyway, I've got an old Funliner that is not even close to what it should look like, according to your photos. But I'm gonna do the best I can. I should put some more pictures here.

ya, do that.......... no ones posted up any pics of a funliner here yet.....
the more pics the merrier..... i've been useing photobucket to host my pics. seems to work pretty good. them funliners look like some pretty dandy boats too. i like the way the stringers (if ya can call them that) are made of fiberglass w/o foam. getting the foam wet in the 19 is my biggest worry. i'd guess wet foam in a 19 would be a boat killer..... the funliner wouldn't have that issue.

You are right. Water saturated foam is the biggest problem to date with the boats. I also tried posting pictures, but it said they were to large.

i think your looking for a needle in a haystack. persistence with google. yer just gonna need some luck. mayby ya need a trashed funliner that has the hardtop. that might be easier to find. i don't know. but it's gonna be tough.... perhaps an alternative would be a making custom soft top. think my nineteen came with the option of a hardtop, soft top. or nothing... did ya go look at the brochures on the www.aristocraftboats.com web site or try to contact them for ideas. ya did see the cat wanting to sell a whole boat at the bottom of the aristocraft fourm...... looks like a fair one. doubt he wants to part with the hardtop. maybe make the best out of 2 boats??????? fiberglassics or olreds old boats. i think that's what its called might be a place to look, they got a want ads section for old boats like ours.... looks like ya got something to work with. ya could start a new post and show us what ya got + what ya think ya need to do to it...... good luck.....

Wet Foam

Wet Foam

I bought a 65 Eighteen several months ago. I was in the process of sanding down the hull for a repaint until I came across a wet spot on the bottom of the hull. After picking away at it with a screw driver not its a 1/2 dollar sized hole and is dripping water. It seems as if there is foam inside the hull. I also notice that when pushing on the bottom of the hull there is movement. Is this normal? I am now wondering if this boat is saturated with water and dont know what to do about it now? Any input from anyone?

Is this normal?
nope. ya might try the aristocraft website. see if there's a cutaway of the eighteen. might give ya an idea of whats under there. i know there's a cutaway for the funliner and the nineteen. i can't remember if the eighteen was shown or not. you'll have to look. other than that, i think i'd call up aristocraft and ask them the best way to remove the water and possible ramifications of it being there. i'm not the fiberglass pro. but i think that if exposed to water long enough, it can be damaged.. i don't know that for a fact though. the oem is who i'd be asking.

from memory, i thought the eighteen was a short run boat design. '67-'68? the between model of the funliner and the nineteen. aristocraft will know.. ;)
