it has come to my attention that a post i put in my thread about a motor i have. may have offended some people. most importantly Joe Reeves. the post i maid was in no way intended as an insult. i screwed up and forgot that he had told me not to get a part anywhere other than a dealer. i had read a bunch of posts that day then went out worked on several different things and did exactly what he said not to. to Joe's credit he was wright. no parts from the hardware store worked. i tried to use humor to cover my stupidity and it failed.

to everyone it may have offended i am sorry. and to Joe if it offended you my sincerest apologies to you. i respect your knowledge and experience and hope to be able to pic your brain some more as I'm sure I'm going to need it.

Once again i apologize
sincerely Robert Combs

Joe probably won't see this apology for a couple of weeks. He's out back talking to the wall.:D

We all do boneheaded stuff from time to time. Especially true when the only interface is the keyboard and you can't read the poster's face. You have to assume good intentions to start out. Thick skin is an essential part of online forums. But, it's good to see you own up to your gafaw.

I'll probably do something stupid in the next hour or so myself.

Nice to meet another Robert Combs - spelled correctly with none of that highly-suspicious double o stuff.

You know, rjc2rjc, I've been around message boards back when they were called BBS's. I went back and read the post we're talking about, and I knew you were being funny. He was joking about himself, and you were joking right along with him.

It's a great example of how everyone involved could have practiced some patience and walked away for a few minutes before responding.

Glad you're tough enough to apologize, but this time around, I vote no foul on your behalf.

Robert, i apologise for jumping on you. and i waited to respond to the post for several hours.

It's is just that we spend our time here telling people how to save time and money, and the younger groups are not listening. sometimes you want to whack them side of the head with a 2x4, to get their attention.

now, lets get on to repairing that motor.
