Re: A question for a Canadian

....well, most people I know would say Lieutenant as 'Lootenant'. The 'Left-tenant' pronunciation might have some left over British in it, but that doesn't mean much these days in Canada. Thankfully.
Love the Bob and Doug Mckenzie humour tho'.
The one that gets me, that I see all the time in (American) shows, movies, etc is the pronunciation for a foyer. (A foyer being somewhat of an entrance hall to a building or home). Anywhooo, this term, like rendezvous....is french, but is used in English all the time. There are many foreign language terms used in English...Kindergarten (German), left over Greek terms, etc, etc. But back to foyer....its pronunciation...when correct is as follows: foy....yay, not foy....yer. The 'yer' on the end is pronounced 'yay'. That one always gets me. Check it out in a dictionary or whatever.
Regardless...at the end of the day we all know what it means. I guess we all have a few indiosyncracies and it can be funny stuff when you roll with it.
All good & Ahoy.

Thanks everyone. I'll crack open a Molsen and buy a new flannel shirt in recognition of my northern neighbors.

I haven't forgotten you guys helping out back in '79 with some of our imprisoned diplomats in Iran...rescued more than Carter.

You have to love a country whose national animal is the Beaver!

.....is it a beaver? I thought it was a moose. I better get caught on my national animals. Lately its mosquitos (just kiddin').
...as well, Jinx...a funny thing about Molson 'Golden' beer. I don't think we can buy it around here (Vancouver Island...NW of Seattle). It's been a few years since I've had it...and I think that when I was down south of Nashville on business. Go figure. I think they might only be selling it stateside these days. We get the regular Molson 87' octane up here.

I just did a Google on NY State Animal and it is also the beaver. The Beaver seems to be popular.
