Hi there, i hope you guys out there don't think this is a dumb question but i was watching one of those home improvement shows. I seen some guy on there spraying what looked like that closed cell insulation in between the studs of the walls. My question is that the same type thats used for flotation in boats and if anyone on here ever used it. It seems a pretty simple way of doing it if the price was right and if the insulation contractor would do it. I hope everyone out there has a Happy Holiday.

A link to the product might help to determine if the "spray" is the same as the two part mix foam.

It's probably close to the same if not the exact same, it really depends on what density they were using.

Having a contractor spray the foam in will be much more expensive than buying the foam and doing it yourself. You can mix and pour the foam yourself for a fraction of what a contractor will charge to spray it.

From my experience in the building industry, most of the spray in close cell foam is of the 2lb density kind. This is basically the same as the pour in. In the Colder climates a 4lb is sometimes used. JNG is correct about the costs unless you KNOW somebody!!!!;)

You can rent the equipment at some places, but that is $$$ also.

They also have 1.8lb closed cell that is used. There are open cell products that are also used for certain applications.

I have seen home use kits online that can be ordered. One time use pressurized systems.
