A QuickStart ?

I have a 94 175hp Oceanrunner and it seems to be taking longer and longer to release the fast idle feature from a cold start. I replaced the 2 wire temperature switch in the port head, but it made no difference. Last week it took a good 10 minutes before it switched to idle speed. The water temp. was 64 degrees and the air was about 70. This is only an issue at a busy ramp when I am in a hurry to clear the dock. Does anyone have any thoughts on any other things that I might check?
Thanks

You should test the thermostats. If the motor doesn't warm up, the quickstart will continue to be active.

If the engine reaches 1100 RPM, QuikStart disengages. Otherwise the engine must reach 96+ degrees.

That makes sense about the thermostats, but how do you ckeck them. If I remove them, can you tell by looking at them if they are stuck open? I can swap them from one head to the other and see if it makes a difference.
Thanks for the feed back.

Replace them as a unit for about $21.00 each. Check the seats and make sure the housing is clean while you are there. The thermostats are behind the housing at the top of each cylinder head. The units are spring-loaded, so be careful when opening the housing.

Okay, thanks ezeke. I will contact my dealer on Tuesday for new thermostats and report back after my next time out at the lake. I am anxious to get this fixed because I hate putting it into gear when it is still on the fast idle.
