My 77 V4 has a 72 transom mount with the early no trim power tilt, now this system uses a lil hydraulic lock thats run from the tilt motor, this is missing on mine but the hose/ pipe is still there, will it operate ok with this bypassed? Id like to fit a replacement but is it worthwhile

What I understand is that you have a hydraulic tilt unit only... NOT... a hydraulic tilt/trim unit, and the additional hydraulic reverse tilt lock portion of it is not present.

The unit would lift and lower the engine providing the line that normally leads to the hydraulic reverse lock is blocked.

However, it is most likely that the engine would lift itself up when in reverse as throttle is applied... UNLESS... the factory mechanical reverse lock is still installed and applied when the engine is in the down position.

I have worked out what is there and whats not, I can easily get it working if I can get my mits on the hydraulic lock cylinder itself and its wire linkage
