Hello i have recently aquired an abandoned boat in GEorgia. Long story short this guy got evicted from his house and left his boat old broken down boat. It had no title or anything with it. Does anyone know how to get a title for an abandoned boat? any suggestions would be helpful.
thanks,
andy

Re: abandoned boat

In Texas, you go to the office where you buy tags and apply for lost title. Costs like $15. They send a registered letter to last known address. When they get no response (and they won't), after a certain amount of time (here it is 60 days, I think) they issue a replacement title in your name, you buy tags and your done. Just to be safe, I wouldn't spend any money on it until I had a title, personally.

Good Luck!

Re: abandoned boat

Georgia doesn't title boats.
I'm in the final stages of registering my Pachanga that I bought, but not from the last registered owner.
I contacted DNR, and they told me name and address of the last owner.
I had to send him a registered letter asking for a notarized bill of sale.
If he didn't respond in 3(?) weeks, (and he didn't) they would register it to me with proof I did all I needed to.
My registration should be here any day.

Never thought I could use "register" so many times!

Re: abandoned boat

If it's on your property and abandoned, you might be able to put a lien on it to get a title issued, I know storage yards do it all the time when people abandon stuff.
