Clean all your contacts. most important the ground cables. use a wire bruck or brillo to clean them nice. I had a similar problem on my 1990 50hp and that solved it. took a while to find the problem but hats what it was.

Re: about ready to sink it

so the compression test was good 145-150-150-150 spent about 4 hours disconnecting all the connections and cleaning them (one at a time ofcourse) thought i had it spun over fast then back to slow took my battery back got a new one still slow... i did the old pull rope while turning the key spins fast for a few sec the back to slow??? any more ideas? i'm a good mechanic but should i just take it to the shop that should cost me a small fortune:(

Have you starter tested. Also your starter is grounded to itself so if you remove the starter and clean where the metal touches metal on the brackets( starter and bracket ) That might help.

Re: about ready to sink it

looks like it is the starter last week i bought a spare force 150 for parts it seems to run but i dont think i can use all the parts one is the a model and one is the b model i checked the starter on the spare my boat spun so fast it scared me:) might put a little work in the other motor so i can have a spare or sell it to try to get back some of the money i've spent.... now i guess i have a fuel problem if i squirt gas in the carb it runs for a second but won't stay running.....i get on that tomorrow.. thanks everyone for pointing me in the right direction:)
