Snipes? Dang! That's a term that I haven't heard in about a million years! For me, it was while aboard a Coast Guard Cutter that was built in the 30s and had steam turbines! The old gal saw service in WW2 (had U-Boat kills) and Vietnam (Operation Market Time). I was a Bosun Mate striker at the time and was always glad that I got to spend time above decks, when it got rough.

A year of that was enough, though - became an aviator after getting off the boat and going through six months of school. Man, life was great after that - stationed in San Fran, dated a cute blonde who was the sister of one of my mates. Yup, flyin and chasin' girls - a young man's dream come true!

Re: About these rankings

Those were the days my friend
We thought they'd never end
We'd sing and dance forever and a day
We'd live the life we choose
We'd fight and never lose
For we were young and sure to have our way.
La la la la...
Those were the days, oh yes those were the days

Yup, I remember the song well!

I personally feel the people asking the questions (which starts interesting discussion) are just as much contributors as those providing answers.
