accel Bog!

hello all, i have a 3.0L alpha one merc. It has always ran great, about a year ago, it was having trouble idling, it would die . I found the idle screw turned it up slightly, now it idle's fine. Now im not sure if this is related or not, but when i accelerate (not even that hard) the engine bogs down like it wants to stall, so i have to ease back on the throttle for a few seconds, then the engine is fine and takes off.

Water skiing is out of the question, because if i hit the throttle hard, the engine will stall.

Any idea's?

With the engine off, and the flame arrestor off, pump the throttle and see if gas is squirting into the venturi. My guess is your accelerator pump diaphragm is shot. If so, its time for a carb rebuild.
