Hi all,

The boat is a thundercraft 16 Ft Nova 1988
with 4cyl 3.0L.

I wish to get the New accelarator pump lever P/N 3302 8237251, wich
would replace the old style 3302 823725.

But apparently is no longer available ( the new lever).

This is to try and fix a bogging problem while giving it full power from idle.

The new lever has 3 holes instead of just one.(To beter adjust the full delivery when giving it full throttle)

Maybe somebody here knows where i can get this new lever?

Anyone?

Thanks
JOE.

Re: accelarator pump lever no-longer available?

99% of all boats run fine with the factory acc pump lever. They are all adjustable to some degree. Just have to bend the lever itself or more usually the pump rod.
Somehow I think fiddleing with your pump rod will not fix your problem.

Starting from square 1... you have a bog from idle to slamming your throttle to WOT? Correct?
You are slamming it? Right?
Most carbs in any boat will have a slight hesitation if you slam it.

When was the last time the engine was fully tuned? And what is your definition of a tune up?

Re: accelarator pump lever no-longer available?

It's not broke the old lever? But you want to try i different one?

Jason gave you the straight dope. You tried rebuilding the carb? It's clean?

You checked that you got good psi from the fuel pump 4-6 psi no less?

No filters are clogged the one in the fitting bye the carb, the one in the fuel pump, and the fuel pickup tube screen is clean ?
The anti-syphin valve is good and clean and the vent is clear to the tank ?

Water separator is clean the filter ?

You didn't give the make of the motor, thats cause you think we will slam you if you say OMC huh?

This ain't no fuel injected motor with instant power, and is a 20 year ole piece of iron. Try gradual throttle and understand what you got here.

I got the same motor a 140 hp. What prop you got on it ?

Good luck !

Re: accelarator pump lever no-longer available?

Hmmm,

Ok,it is a mercruiser, and is in excellent condition.

The arrest flame on carb is clean,
-good plug, good wires, cap, rotor and points are good.
-fuel pump and syphon are correct.and fuel filter.
-no water separator.

When the accelarator pump is disconnected, and i take a syringe to meter the fuel myself when someone else ''slams'' the throttle, everything is Ok.

So the pump is shooting to much fuel, so i need the new lever to deliver less fuel.......

Thanks guy's for the help but i sorta now what i am doing;)

The help i need is to find this bloody lever:confused:

thanks again
ps Your reply's were a fun read.:p

Joe.

Edit if you go in the mercruiser manual they talk about the very lever i need
and how it rectifies a bog when applying full throttle.

But i do not know how to put a link to this....
I know engines, not computers......

Ayuh,...

So take a pair of plyers,+ shorten the Rod coming from the arm...

That's how it was done before there were extra holes in the arm....

Thanks bond-o

This is what i will have to do,
but i would of liked to have the new lever because it is longer
so better chances to adjust it.

thanks,
Joe.

Maybe it's me, they must have money to throw away from wherever he comes from.

I must have had a 100 of them BLOODY carbs and all i ever did was use a different hole or just bend the lever to adjust it.

Re: accelarator pump lever no-longer available?

I have been reading posts for the last couple of days and have noticed one constant from everyone. And that is thier eighter looking for info (help) or trying to offer it in one form or another. I once read a book as part of a Black Belt Facilitator qualification class for work ( How to Win Friends and Influence People) and the biggest misunderstanding of someone asking help or trying to give it is how they ask for it or how they try to give it. I think for the most part on this forum new and old members should review the section on what specisic info to give when asking for help!. But I also believe there should be a section on how to give help to those in need that aren't asking the right question. I do not by any means mean to offend any of the members of this forum that must spend hours of thier time offering thier expertice to all of us with our crafts and helping us save $ by doing it ourselves. I just enjoy doing and reading about doing it myself with the help of all here with good results. Oh yea by the way skid-joe I have basicaly the same power plant 3.0LX w/ the est ignition 1996 and it bogged a little as yours is I just tweaked the arm slightly while on the lake "easy breezy" I believe Chiefallen once told me? He's a good resource in this community.

Fat my man believe me if i tell ya i'm a novice compared to some of these guys.

Whats great about this site is that there are experts in every aspect of mechanics.

And they all give freely the hard learned lessons that they learned, so the next guy won't have to learn the hard way.
