Re: accelerator pump

What year and brand and size and model of engine is it? An accelerator pump is part of the carburetor, with no information we cannot be sure you even have one, I mean your engine may be fuel injected.

If you have one then it is easy enough to check. With engine off, take off flame arrestor on top of the carb, look down the throat and hold the choke plate open then move the throttle to 3/4 open or more and see if two very healthy streams of fuel are sprayed into the throat. You should be able to hear them as well. If they do not seem healthy or do not start right when the throttle is moved then the accelerator pump may need attention.

How to fix it depends on the model of carb, but most times if the pump shot has deteriorated it is time for a carb rebuild.

Re: accelerator pump

Definitely carbed, so now you know how to check the accelerator pump shot.

What are the symptoms for the problem you are trying to fix?
