I am purchasing a 1996 Johnson 112SP. The hour meter indicates that the motor has 350 hours. Is that amount of hours high for the year of the motor? Is there any reccommended maintance schedule based on the number of hours a motor has?
The motor is very clean and the last compretion check was 125 on each cylinder when the motor was winterized at the end of last season.

Thanks

Howdy, Smith.

If the engine has received proper routine and preventive maintenance, it is just well broken in at 350hrs.

If it has been abused and neglected it may be in some trouble.

The compression sounds good. Check lower end grease for water and have the impeller replaced. Do not buy it unless you see and hear it run under load.

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Smith,

350 is NOTHING for a well maintained engine. Follow JB's advice.
