Acceptable to Put Lok-Tite on Alternator Bracket Bolt?

This weekend, the bolt jumped out of my alternator bracket. I was idling and heard the strange noise right away, so I killed the engine. I found the bolt in the bilge, and put it back in. Today, it started to come loose again. The hole is not stripped, but I don't want to put my full body weight into it and break the bolt off. Would I be able to put Lok-Tite or something on that bolt to prevent this? Thank you in advance.

I suppose you could locktite it, but those things seldom if ever come loose.
Locktite is a bandaid fix.
What you need to do is find out why it's vibrating so bad that it shakes the bolts loose.

Be careful when using Loctite. My suggestion would be to use Loctite Threadlocker ( Blue). Also use a Loctite primer. Squirt some primer into the hole as well as the threads on the bolt !! Follow the instructions and you can't go wrong !!

Are all the pulleys free of rust and corrosion?

Use a lock washer.

And if that fails, use a slightly longer bolt and back-nut it

Thank you for the advice, everyone. Yes, the pulleys are rust and corrosion free. I disconnected the power steering pump, as it was only causing me grief, and I don't really need it. I only have the one belt that goes to the alternator. The weird thing about it is, I can get the bolt all the way in, and it feels tight in there, but I don't want to torque it down too much. It has not come loose again since that time, but I noticed today that the ski tow ring has come loose also. That one is stainless, and it looks brand new. I am guessing it just happened from all the waves maybe jarring it loose over time?

Locktite it! It won't hurt anything. Just don't use the Red stuff. You'd have to heat it with a torch to get it to release.
