Hello, My 1975 merc 115 seems to be running well but after sitting in the driveway I noticed oil leaking from the prop exaust. It's not clean oil, it's black and smells burnt.
Am I running to rich? I'm using a 50:1 fuel to oil ratio.
If I am running rich how can I fix this problem?
I know some oil is acceptable but it seems to be getting worse.
Thanks, falker

Re: Access oil

Don't know if you are running rich. You might be, or not. It could be normal residue, or there could be more because of poor fuel, or different oil, low compression, weak spark, or major change in the water temp.

Sure fire fix is to buy a new 4 stroke engine.

If it works, don't fix it.

Re: Access oil

Compression is 120 to 130 on all six, oil wasn't changed, plugs are clean, and gas isn't old...how do I test my coil?
