Does this ring a bell for anyone. It's a Johnson 70hp 2 stroke in Australia.
70879C

Sounds more like a '78 70hp 2-stroke Evinrude to me.

(That's an Evinrude model number)

It was sold to me as a Johnson, yet others have commented on it appearing to be an Evinrude. It has what appears to be an aftermarket paint job, white on gold, with a Johnson cover. I brought it as part of a boat package just recently. No problems there, just curious about parts supply for it.

The only difference then would have been the paint and cowl decals. I believe they were using light metallic blue for Evinrudes in '78. It's odd they switched identities though - perhaps they liked Johnsons better. Or maybe they lost the cowl and could only find a Johnson one.

Was this boat purchased in Bundy? If so I think I've seen the boat/package. If it is the one I looked at it's definately an Evinrude with the wrong cowling.
