I have a new 21' bay boat that I absolutely love. However, I am currently suffering from a very painful achilles tendon bursitis or tendonitis type of injury and it is caused by the position and the strain put on my heels when standing and driving my boat over a long and bumpy bay crossing. Has anyone else ever experienced this sort of thing? I currently have a padded mat that I stand on and that helps but the problem is more the angle of my foot in relation to my leg, and the pressure exerted on the ankle from the forward angle that I have to stand at. I hope this makes sense to someone anyway. I have a leaning post and I sit on it to drive whenever possible but when I'm hauling out across the bay and the water is rough, I have to stand. Anyone know of some other sort of footrest or cushion that I might be able to try standing on while driving in these conditions? I am thinking of just making some sort of angled foam thingy to stand on that would at least change the angle of my foot when standing and driving to see if that would help. Any thoughts?
