Guys,
I wanted to know what the actual propshaft HP would be on an old Early 70's model 115HP Evinrude.

I was looking at a boat with one of these on the back and wondered what the actual HP was and if it would be enough for skiing and tubing. I just sold my 65hp Evinrude, so to me it would be more hp. I just wasn't sure if it will be enough. BTW boat is a 74 Checkmate. Thanks

I think you answered your own question. If the 65 worked then the 115 will work even better, all things being equal (same boat, healthy motors etc).

Just set it up for skiing and youll be good to go. Remember, lots of folks learned to ski behind boats with lots less power than that.

Thanks. I did answer my own question. But I was still curious about actual numbers.

I learned off of my Grandfather's boat. It had an old 1960's Evinrude 45hp(might have been a 40). I remember him skiing behind it and he was about 200lbs. The boat would drag him for almost a 1/2 mile before he got up. :D
