I a a brand new 15 ft Gillgetter family deluxe. Dont really want to punch hole in her and my wife doesn't want it messed with. SO here's my question. I have a 55lb Minn Kota Vector from my old fishing boat. I turned the head around so I can use it on thebow of the pontoon. I took aluminum angle metal about 2 inches by 2 inches and 24 inches long. I then prceeded to use brass bolts and bolt a 2x4 onto the inside edge. This gives me a make shift transom. I intend to clamp the the bracket onto the deck in front with 4" C clamps. It can easily be removed and makes no holes. Does this make sense ? will it hold under pressure of 55 lbs?

any comments appreciated

You are trusting "C" clamps to hold a 55# motor??? Better rethink that plan. Bolts will not allow the bracket to loosen and dump your motor into the lake. C-clamps will. You might be interested to know that a mount is available to do exactly what you want to do. It not only looks better, it works better. Yes, you need two holes. Big deal. It's a boat. not a classic car.

where can I find the mount you are speaking of ?
I've been thinking samething, bolts instead, but it sounds so logical that C's would work.

Well you were right, I Finally got to try out
Y theory. I did add a safety line just in case. Clamped it up tight. Made a great e it out of my mooring slip using reverse. Then I tried to manuver her forward and the aluminum started bend under the pressure. I didn't give it a chance to come off, I went right back to my outboard .
Anyone know where I cN get the bracket being referred to here
