I have a 25 HP Suzuki outboard for my 17 foot boat with a cuddy cabin and want to add a second battery. The local marine has a Blue Sea "Add a Battery" dual battery system that comes with the battery switch and an isolator. Here's a photo..
My questions: Is this overkill for my boat and will it work with the output from the alternator on a small outboard? What do I do with the the grounds? Should I connect the two battery grounds together or connect one ground to the engine and the other to the fuse panel for the house? Thanks.
